ONE WAY FOR THE ROAD

"One Way for the Road" is a court-approved, 10 hour program that provides education and awareness on impaired driving for those charged with DWI, amended DWI charges, as well as individuals participating in DWI pre-trial diversion programs. "One Way for the Road" was created in 1998 by Judge Rebecca Olivier and received the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission's 2010 award for being the most innovative DWI sentencing/method/program in the state. To register for the "One Way for the Road" program, you must come to the Probation Department of First Parish Court between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. To register you must bring the following:
  • Valid identification with photo
  • Probation and/or sentencing documents from the sentencing court
  • Registration payment of $100 (cash, check, credit card and money order are all accepted)
  • For those who need to attend a MADD Victim Impact Panel as part of their sentence, please note that there is a MADD Victim Impact Panel that takes place during the course of the program. There is an additional fee payable by $15 money order that will be collected on the first night of the program for the MADD Victim Impact Panel.
"One Way for the Road" is scheduled once per month and the 10 hours is divided into 4 consecutive weeknight evenings for 2.5 hours each night.
